Yoga for Pregnancy
Generally, yoga is the ideal exercise for pregnant women. Yoga can help firstly by providing education and support but also by providing tools to help women empower themselves and regain control of their body and mind during those difficult times. However, it is important to establish that there are no complications and that you are practising with your doctor/midwife’s approval.
Benefits - yoga can increase sense of being in control, boost energy levels, relieve backaches and improve posture by strengthening and toning muscles in back, buttocks and thighs, reduce constipation by accelerating movement in intestines, prevent wear and tear in the joints that become loosened during pregnancy because of hormonal changes by activating the lubricating synovial fluid in the joints, release endorphins, the naturally occurring chemicals in the brain that make us feel better, promote peaceful sleep, and help mother to bond with her unborn baby through breathing and visualisation techniques.
